OMS High Voltage Technician | Clipper Wind Power | Stephenville, TX

This position is responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of the internal collection systems, substation operations, above/under ground splices, PMT operation, and will assist in the training of all approved HV training. This position will also support OMS activities at various sites as needed in the trouble shooting of mechanical and electrical components contained either within or outside of the Wind Turbine Generator. Will be expected to assist in all areas of site operations and maintenance including weekend coverage as directed by designated site supervision. Performs all mechanical and electrical component testing and ultimately repairs as needed. This position is not yet based at a specific site, therefore extensive travel will be required in order to assist with O&M as well as commissioning other Clipper projects. Because of the added exposure to High voltage components on a daily basis, this position will require an extensive EHS background in High Voltage. The applicant may be required to coordinate tasks with the Clipper EHS department for review and approval.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must have valid driver's license and ability to travel to assist with workload on other projects.
  • Must have clean DMV record and ability to operate service trucks as required for site.
  • Must be able to consistently climb wind turbine towers up to 300' in height.
  • Ability to work out doors under extreme weather conditions.
  • Experience & knowledge working with DC Electricity < 1500 Volts, AC Electricity up to 34,500 Volts.
  • Familiarity with voltage Testers, Multimeters, Amp Clamps, Oscilloscopes, Meghommeters, Infrared Testers, Voltage Test Procedures, Lock Out Tag Out, Electric Static Discharge (ESD_), Hydraulics, Accumulator Charging, Crane Hand Signals, soldering, Fasteners, Torquing, Hytorques, Fiber Optics, First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), And Tower Rescue.
  • Overtime is involved to meet project deadlines as needed.
  • Ability to train other employees in operations, maintenance & repair procedures as well as High Voltage operation if needed.
  • Two to three years of substation operations and repair experience
  • Ability to perform splicing activities on high voltage circuits.
  • Ability to perform pad mount switching activities.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair balance of plant infrastructure failures i.e. oil submersed fuse replacement in pad mount transformers
